Kongad CPI(M) MLA K Shantakumari disclosed on Saturday that she has been targeted by an alleged cyber fraud gang. The group reportedly contacted her claiming involvement in a bomb blast case using her identity.
Initiating contact on Friday, a caller purportedly from the Anti-Terrorism Squad informed Shantakumari that her SIM card was linked to the Pahalgam bombing suspect. After identifying her political position, another call from someone alleging to be an officer from the cyber cell ensued, questioning her travel history and requesting a video call.
During the video call, the alleged officer sought sensitive information, including her Aadhaar number. Shantakumari’s family intervened, suspecting an AI-driven deception. The MLA reported the matter to police, leading to an ongoing investigation amid her election campaign concerns.
