Delhi Police's Bold Operation Nabs 55 Cyber Fraudsters Across States
In a decisive operation, Delhi Police's Cyber Unit has apprehended 55 individuals linked to inter-state cyber frauds, recovering crores. The crackdown uncovered extensive networks used for digital and investment scams across multiple states. In a significant operation, Delhi Police's Cyber Unit from the West District has dismantled inter-state cyber fraud networks, apprehending 55 suspects within a month. The operation exposed fraudulent activities involving over 125 mobile phones, 450 SIM cards, mule account networks, and digital and investment fraud schemes.
The police reported cyber fraud cases amounting to Rs 4.84 crore in January 2026. Of this, lien marking on Rs 1.55 crore and restitution of Rs 39 lakh were achieved via court orders, while 20 cyber cases were resolved and 13 concluded after investigation. Operations spanned several states, including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and others.
Various cases highlighted include a Rs 15 lakh fraud targeting a retired government employee via digital arrest scams and another involving Rs 14.35 lakh through fictitious investment schemes on WhatsApp. Additional cases involved fraudulent online trading and bogus furniture delivery frauds, leading to multiple arrests across different regions.
In another notable instance, a Rs 24.80 lakh scam involved fraudulent USDT cryptocurrency investments, resulting in arrests in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam and Indore regions. (ANI)
