A tragic incident struck the community during Chhath puja, as two youngsters were swept away by strong currents in the Raite river, igniting a desperate search operation.
The incident unfolded Monday evening within the Kalyan taluka police jurisdiction, leaving the area in shock and sorrow.
The missing youths, Prince Gupta, 16, and Rajan Vishwakarma, 18, both known residents, were last seen when one slipped into the river amid ritualistic activities. Despite efforts to rescue, both were overpowered by the fierce current. Local residents swiftly alerted the authorities, triggering a coordinated search by police and fire teams, which resumed at dawn on Tuesday.
