In a significant bust, Assam Police have detained a man in the Cachar district accused of posing as a doctor and operating an illegal clinic, authorities confirmed Tuesday. The suspect allegedly conducted his operations in the Sonai area, deceiving patients with false medical credentials.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Partha Protim Das of Cachar district stated that district police have ramped up efforts to crack down on fraudulent medical practitioners. Recently, acting on credible intelligence, officers apprehended the individual from Nagdirgram Part-4 village, subsequently seizing critical documents from the clinic he operated under the Sonai police station jurisdiction.

The case has sparked broader investigations into his involvement with a suspected network illicitly issuing fake medical degrees. His actions, suspected to be financially motivated, have severely endangered public safety and undermined trust in the medical sector. The suspect, considered the syndicate's mastermind, is now in police custody as inquiries continue.
