Mizoram Government to Launch Crop Insurance for Farmers

The Mizoram government is set to unveil an insurance scheme aimed at protecting farmers from financial setbacks due to crop failure or damage, according to Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister PC Vanlalruata.

During a recent function at the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) office, Vanlalruata highlighted the government's commitment to fulfilling poll promises, including the purchase of key crops and the introduction of crop insurance.

Despite challenges such as irregularities in ginger trade and price drops, the government has stayed true to its 2023 election pledges, procuring major crops under the 'Bana Kaih' scheme, with an allocated budget of Rs 350 crore for future implementation.
