Indian Railways has launched an extensive operation of over 12,000 special trains across the country to manage the anticipated surge in passengers due to the festive season. This number is poised to increase with an additional 8,000 special trains planned, according to a statement from the CPRO Northern Railway.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the country's rail preparedness, conducting on-ground assessments at New Delhi Railway Station to ensure smooth and secure travel for passengers. Between October 1 and October 19, Indian Railways successfully operated 3,960 special trains alongside regular services to meet heightened travel demands.

The special service initiatives span all zones of Indian Railways. Northern, Central, and Western Railways have operated the highest numbers of specials, with over one crore passengers utilizing these services in October alone. In the New Delhi region, there was a notable increase in passengers, underscoring the effectiveness of the efforts to enhance travel experiences during the festive period.
