The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Guwahati has ordered five individuals to be placed in judicial custody in connection with the death of Zubeen Garg, a prominent Assamese singer. The court decision came after the expiry of police remand, which also involves two other suspects who remain under custody until October 17.
The Assam Police presented the accused before the court on Wednesday. Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta revealed to ANI that seven people had been arrested, and the remand period for five had concluded. Statements from witnesses are ongoing, with ten individuals already providing testimonies, and a further communication from Singapore is awaited concerning the case.
Gupta clarified, "We are not seeking further remand, but we will do so if new facts arise." The investigation has taken an international turn with three NRIs from Singapore providing statements. Allegations from the singer's bandmate suggest Zubeen Garg might have been poisoned prior to his untimely death in Singapore.
