A tragic incident in Satara has raised serious concerns over the safety of working women and students in Maharashtra. According to Congress leader Harshwardhan Sapkal, the alleged suicide of a woman doctor serves as evidence that not all is well in the so-called progressive state.
The 28-year-old doctor was discovered hanging in a hotel room on October 23, with accusations scrawled on her palm against a police sub-inspector and a software engineer. Both men have been taken into custody, implicating a deeper issue of exploitation and harassment faced by women.
Sapkal points out this case amidst other recent incidents of harassment, emphasizing that Maharashtra must urgently address women's safety. In his statement, the Congress leader also drew parallels with other cases where irresponsible remarks and undue harassment have marred the state's social landscape.
