An innovative initiative in Maharashtra’s Latur district is reshaping societal norms by celebrating the birth of girls with a financial gift. A non-governmental organization (NGO) has stepped forward to deposit Rs 5,000 for every newborn girl in the village of Viral under Jalkot tehsil.
This progressive move recently recognized the birth of three baby girls, Pragati, Snesha, and Reva, with their parents receiving felicitations and financial assistance from the NGO. The organization, Rangakarmi Pratishthan, emphasizes the importance of celebrating girls' births with pride and responsibility.
Jyoti Maddevad, a representative of the NGO, stated the initiative seeks to merge social awareness with economic security, ensuring the slogan ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ becomes a part of daily life, rather than merely a slogan.
