On Tuesday, the judicial custody of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, leader of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council, was extended by an additional 14 days. He stands accused of inciting violence in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, last month.
The proceedings, held via video-conferencing for security reasons, saw Raza appear before Chief Judicial Magistrate Alka Pandey. Raza has been held at Fatehgarh Central Jail since September 27, following violent clashes tied to controversial 'I Love Mohammad' posters.
During the unrest, a mob allegedly attacked police, resulting in ten FIRs across various stations. Raza, initially named in seven FIRs, is linked to others in the investigation.
