A recent controversy has unfolded in Maharashtra involving Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, who has issued threats towards the publisher of an almost four-decade-old book by late communist leader Govind Pansare. Gaikwad claims the book distorts the revered history of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Gaikwad, known for courting controversies, has been recorded in an audio clip using derogatory language against publisher Prashant Ambi. While the Maharashtra Congress has dubbed it 'open hooliganism', they are calling for an inquiry by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis into Gaikwad’s conduct.
Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Harshwardhan Sapkal has strongly criticized Gaikwad's actions as defaming Maharashtra’s cultural values, urging immediate protection for Ambi and a thorough investigation into Gaikwad's connection with past controversies.
