AIVD Warns of Unprecedented Security Threats from Russia and China

The Netherlands is confronting its most significant national security threat since World War II, primarily due to actions from Russia and China, the AIVD intelligence agency reported on Thursday.

AIVD director Simone Smit expressed that the current threat level is unparalleled, with national security being compromised from multiple directions simultaneously.

Russia's intensified cyber aggression and China's ongoing quest for advanced technology, aiming to realign the global order to its benefit, are spotlighted as the main challenges.

Domestically, rising tendencies among jihadist and far-right groups also contribute to the security concerns in the country.
