Congress leader Rahul Gandhi embarked on a two-day visit to Kerala, where he stopped at the Sivagiri Math in Varkala on Saturday. He was warmly received by Swami Sathchidanda, president of the ashram established by Sree Narayana Guru, and was honored with a large saffron garland.
During his visit, Gandhi explored various sections of the Math associated with the revered social reformer, Sree Narayana Guru, and paid respects at the guru's samadhi. This visit underscores the Congress leader's engagement with significant cultural and spiritual sites in the region.
The previous day, Friday, saw Gandhi attending an event in Kollam to commemorate the centenary of a significant historical meeting between Mahatma Gandhi and Sree Narayana Guru, accompanied by senior Congress leaders such as K C Venugopal, P C Vishnunadh, and Chandy Oommen.
