Congress leader Rahul Gandhi embarked on a two-day tour of Kerala, during which he visited the revered Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha was warmly received by Swami Sathchidanda, the ashram's president, with whom he discussed the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, the Mutt's founder.
Gandhi paid respects at the samadhi of Sree Narayana Guru and toured various areas of the Mutt that are historically significant. His visit underscored the impact of the spiritual and social reformer’s work on contemporary Indian society.
The visit coincided with a significant event in Kollam, where Rahul Gandhi, alongside Congress dignitaries including K C Venugopal, commemorated the centenary of the 1925 meeting between Mahatma Gandhi and Sree Narayana Guru.
