Threats and Tennis: The Panna Udvardy Ordeal

Hungarian tennis star Panna Udvardy faced a perilous situation at the Antalya Challenger tournament in Turkey. The world number 95 revealed she received disturbing messages threatening her family if she did not intentionally lose her match. Udvardy took to social media to disclose the threats and reported the issue to the WTA.

According to Udvardy, her parents reached out to the Turkish consulate, ensuring police protection with three officers accompanying her to the court in Antalya. The authorities indicated that similar threats had targeted other players, suggesting a potential data leak from the WTA database, currently under investigation.

In addition to the security measures, police visited the homes of Udvardy's parents and grandmother. Following her match, Udvardy filed an official police report in Turkey. As of now, the WTA has not issued any comment on the alarming situation.
