Veteran journalist Narayan Bareth has passed away at the age of 68 in Jaipur following a cardiac arrest amid ongoing treatment for pneumonia, a family member confirmed on Saturday.
Bareth's funeral is scheduled for later today. He had been hospitalized for several days, succumbing to a cardiac arrest on Friday night. Bareth made significant contributions to journalism while associated with the BBC and served as the Rajasthan Information Commissioner.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. Prominent figures, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, have expressed their condolences. Gehlot highlighted Bareth's impactful career in public-interest journalism and his efficiency as an administrator. The former chief minister extended prayers for the departed soul and strength to Bareth's grieving family.
