CBSE's Future-Ready Curriculum: Bilingual Boost and Multi-Level Mastery
The CBSE is set to introduce a revamped curriculum starting from the 2026-27 academic year. This includes a three-language policy from Class 6, and a two-level system in mathematics and science for Class 9. The changes aim to enhance multilingual education and offer advanced learning opportunities.

In a significant overhaul of its educational framework, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the phased introduction of a new curriculum focusing on multilingual proficiency and advanced subject comprehension.
Starting in the 2026-27 academic session, the new system mandates a three-language formula for students beginning in Class 6 and introduces a two-tier structure for mathematics and science courses in Class 9. This update aligns with the National Education Policy's recommendations for enhanced language learning, with two of the three languages required to be native to India.
Additionally, the dual-level system in mathematics and science is designed to cater to different proficiency levels, comprising a standard curriculum and an optional advanced level for deeper understanding. While the standard exam remains a requirement, the advanced level option serves to enhance higher-order thinking without impacting the overall grade.
