Empowering Aquaculture: Subsidies and Education Reforms in Andhra Pradesh

On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh's Minister G Ravi Kumar declared that the government would provide subsidized electricity to the state's 5.2 lakh aquaculture farmers at a rate of Rs 1.5 per unit, significantly cheaper than the Rs 3.85 per unit rate set by the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The subsidy is zonal-based, and the Fisheries Department assures stringent verification to ensure eligibility. This move is part of a broader focus on infrastructure and quality improvement, as the state pushes for educational reforms.

Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh also highlighted the 'one class-one teacher' initiative aimed at 33% of schools, intending to amplify learning standards and facility quality with a budget of Rs 1,000 crore planned for next year.
