In a compelling move, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has approached Union Tribal Affairs Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, pushing for government approval to advance the Institute of Tribal Studies and Research.
Situated in Sultan Bathery, the institute serves as a critical educational hub for tribal students, aiming to bolster their academic and cultural understanding alongside pioneering research on tribal traditions. Gandhi emphasized its importance, given Kerala's substantial tribal populace.
Gandhi's call follows a detailed proposal by Calicut University for campus development, featuring infrastructure upgrades and new learning programs. Her brother, Rahul Gandhi, had initially highlighted this need in 2022, with further discourse in Parliament in 2023.
