In a tragic accident, five people, including four women, lost their lives while four others sustained injuries after a speeding truck collided with a car carrying wedding guests in Maharashtra's Bhandara district. The collision took place around 9 pm on Thursday at Adyal village along a state highway in Pouni taluka.

The victims were returning from a wedding in Kondha when the truck, traveling from the opposite direction, crashed into their vehicle. Among the deceased were a couple and a mother-daughter duo, according to local authorities. The four other passengers in the car survived but suffered injuries.

The local police have apprehended the truck driver, identified as Durgesh Yadav, a 40-year-old resident of Chhattisgarh. Legal proceedings have commenced against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and the Motor Vehicles Act.
