India has decided to extend its ban on Pakistani planes from using Indian airspace until May 24. This decision marks more than a year since the airspace was initially closed following a terror attack in Pahalgam in April 2025.
The closure, first imposed days after the attack that killed 26, has been consistently renewed amid heightened tensions between the two nations. Recently, Pakistan reciprocated by extending its own airspace closure to Indian aircraft until the same date.
The situation has resulted in Indian airlines taking longer routes to reach international destinations, showcasing the continuing impact of the airspace ban amid unresolved diplomatic tensions.
