The Maharashtra cabinet has endorsed the Compressed Biogas (CBG) Policy 2026, highlighting a strategic move toward improved waste management and lowered greenhouse gas emissions. Under this policy, district-level coordination committees will spearhead biogas projects using public-private partnerships on a hybrid annuity model. Notably, the government has allocated Rs 500 crore for these CBG projects within the current fiscal year.

In a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, further resolutions include granting 42.55 hectares of land to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for developing an IT park at Nagewadi in the Satara district. These initiatives are part of broad efforts to boost economic development and infrastructure within the state.

The cabinet also resolved to align teacher salaries in seven model colleges with University Grants Commission (UGC) standards, extending eligibility for higher recruitment marks. Additionally, a proposal aimed at restructuring the land tenure premium from Occupant Class-2 to Class-1 was sanctioned, aligning with state land holding regulations.
