Mumbai Metro, Expressway Boosts: Fadnavis Accelerates Maharashtra's Infrastructure

The projects, worth billions, promise faster travel and improved facilities, including significant preparations for the 2027 Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has authorized the implementation of key infrastructure projects, including the new Mumbai Metro Line 5A and expressway expansions across the Vidarbha region. The decision, announced on Wednesday, emerged from the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Infrastructure Development meeting at Mantralaya.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, alongside senior ministers, joined CM Fadnavis in approving a series of projects aimed at improving transportation and connectivity in the region. Among these is the Metro Line 5A, costing Rs 18,130.55 crore and extending 34.21 km with 19 stations, designed to significantly reduce travel times for commuters.
Apart from metro developments, instructions were issued to enhance expressways such as the Nagpur-Gondia and Bhandara-Gadchiroli routes, encouraging industrial growth. Also notable is the sanctioned preparation for the 2027 Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela, which includes comprehensive infrastructure enhancements.
