A miscommunication in signaling led a local train to an occupied platform at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), causing operational hitches on Tuesday afternoon, according to railway officials.

The incident unfolded around 3:15 PM when the Badlapur-CSMT local train was erroneously directed to platform number 5, already held by a train bound for Khopoli. Central Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer, Swapnil Nila, confirmed that services on the main line were disrupted briefly.

Officials shared that while there was sufficient separation between trains, the situation resulted in temporary delays. The station master has been suspended, and operations resumed after the train was moved back to platform 4, restoring service balance.
