In a landmark event, DP World Cochin has set a new record by accommodating MSC Ilaria, one of the largest container vessels to dock at the International Container Transshipment Terminal. This significant achievement involved handling over 8,000 TEUs, surpassing the previous record held by MSC Aurora.

The arrival of MSC Ilaria showcases the terminal's advanced capabilities in managing Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs), attributed to substantial infrastructure investments. Upgrades including new Ship-to-Shore cranes and the transition to an electrified system have expanded the terminal's capacity to 1.4 million TEUs, boosting operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Officials emphasize the terminal's strategic location, offering minimal route deviation and cost advantages, facilitating smooth cargo movement across India's coasts. DP World Cochin continues to play a vital role as a trade gateway, underscored by this milestone vessel handling.
