Karnataka's Industrial Ambition: Northward Horizon

Karnataka is gearing up for major industrial expansion in its northern regions, with Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil at the helm of the initiative. The government is actively engaging with companies to establish significant projects in districts like Vijayapura and Bagalkote, aiming to correct regional industrial imbalances.

In an ongoing effort named 'Beyond Bengaluru,' Karnataka has divided the state into three zones, offering varying incentives to attract industries. Zone-1, particularly underdeveloped, offers the highest incentives, while Zone-3, which includes Bengaluru, offers minimal incentives. Patil highlighted that ongoing discussions with companies are set to transform the industrial landscape of north Karnataka.

Notably, Reliance Industries is initiating a project in Kembhavi, promising 1,600 new jobs. Meanwhile, Suzlon Energy is establishing a manufacturing unit for wind turbine rotor blades. The state is keen on collaborating with the central government, aiming to bring more industrial opportunities to the north of Karnataka.
