India is witnessing a surge in copper demand, with a remarkable 9.3% rise to 1,878 kilo tonnes in FY25, as per a report by the International Copper Association India (ICA India).
The increase follows robust economic progress and growing adoption of the metal across infrastructure and clean energy sectors, which serve as the primary growth drivers.
Experts emphasize the need for India to strengthen its copper reserves and domestic supply chains to support long-term development goals, alongside enhancing domestic fabrication capabilities and promoting import substitution strategies.
