The Delhi High Court has sought clarity from the central government on its strategy to manage the purported misuse of the AI chatbot DeepSeek. The concerns of privacy and security violations linked to the platform were highlighted by a bench led by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela.
During a hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking guidelines to restrict access to such AI technologies, the court emphasized the urgency of addressing the issues at their inception. Instructions were requested from the ministry regarding their containment strategy.
Filed by advocate Bhavna Sharma, the PIL argues that platforms like DeepSeek pose risks to individual privacy and national security, underlining the potential threat to India's sovereignty and integrity.
