The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has lodged a fresh First Information Report (FIR) against Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. The move comes on the heels of Bhullar's arrest on allegations of bribery concerning a transaction with a scrap dealer.
Bhullar was earlier taken into custody after being caught allegedly accepting a Rs 5 lakh bribe. A subsequent raid on his residence in Chandigarh uncovered a staggering Rs 7.36 crore in cash, luxury watches, and valuable real estate documents.
The CBI is now scrutinizing how Bhullar, whose legitimate income is reported at Rs 45.95 lakh annually, could amass such immense riches. Investigations continue into the possible involvement of his family in what is suspected to be a significant case of corruption.
