BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, representing Bengaluru South, met with Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to appeal for the scrapping of a proposed tunnel road project in favor of enhancing public transport networks.

Surya advocated for expanding the metro and suburban rail as sustainable solutions to Bengaluru's traffic woes, urging the diversion of funds from the tunnel project to mass transit endeavors.

Despite advocating for these changes, Shivakumar remains committed to the tunnel project's potential benefits, saying it could considerably reduce travel time and improve access to the IT corridor. Nevertheless, he expressed willingness to review Surya's proposals.
