The Pune Motor Vehicle Court has delivered a unique punishment for a 28-year-old individual caught driving under the influence of alcohol. As per the court's directive, the offender must print and distribute 1,000 handbills warning about the dangers of drunk driving at traffic signals throughout the city.

This ruling aligns with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, which the Pimpri Chinchwad police have been rigorously enforcing. Besides the awareness campaign, the court has also imposed a Rs 10,000 fine under section 23 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The Pune Motor Vehicle Court's decision follows a significant crackdown by the Pimpri Chinchwad police, who have acted against 2,984 such offenses between January and September. This latest ruling underscores the seriousness with which authorities are addressing drunk driving in the region.
