Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to address a global audience at the India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025 on October 29. After touring exhibition centers and experience zones, Modi will speak at the event, which promises significant engagements as revealed by Union Minister for Shipping, Ports and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal.
The maritime showcase, inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has drawn participants from over 85 countries, including 350 global speakers and 11 foreign ministers. It underscores India's quest to ascend as a maritime superpower, with Minister Sonowal emphasizing the nation’s trajectory towards becoming a top five shipbuilding nation by 2047.
Vijay Kumar, Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, revealed plans for signing 680 MoUs worth Rs 10 lakh crore at the event. These agreements span port-led industrialization, shipbuilding, and green sustainability, promising over seven lakh job opportunities. India Maritime Week 2025 is not just a massive gathering; it's a significant step in bolstering India's maritime sector.
