The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged an Aligarh-based man, Jasim Mohammad, for unlawfully setting up a 'Centre for Narendra Modi Studies'. The action followed a complaint from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), prompting CBI inquiries into the allegations of unauthorized establishment.
According to officials, the PMO's complaint was initially reported by an Aligarh-based advocate, raising concerns about the unauthorized use of the Prime Minister's name. The CBI received the complaint in April and commenced a preliminary investigation, confirming the center was registered on January 25, 2021.
The inquiry revealed that the establishment operated without the necessary permissions, contravening the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950. After securing consent from the chief metropolitan magistrate, an FIR was filed against Mohammad to formally pursue legal proceedings.
