Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the much-anticipated 'India Maritime Week 2025' in Mumbai, Maharashtra on Monday. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, among others. Shah highlighted Mumbai's reputation as home to the iconic Gateway of India, now poised to become the Gateway to the World, thanks to substantial maritime sector reforms.

Emphasizing India's vast 11,000-kilometre coastline, Shah underlined the substantial contributions of 13 coastal states to the nation's GDP. The Exclusive Economic Zone is attracting significant global investor interest, marking India's strength on the international maritime stage. He lauded the strategic role India plays in the Indo-Pacific and the Global South, bridging trade routes and fostering economic development.

Shah celebrated the launch, indicating over 350 speakers and 500 companies from more than 100 countries would gather to craft a vibrant future for the industry. The summit intends to secure India's position as a maritime industry leader by 2047, with new investment and infrastructure targets enhancing global trade routes, reinforcing India's maritime influence across the globe.
