Estonia's Foreign Minister, Margus Tsahkna, engaged in pivotal talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, emphasizing a strategic collaboration in trade, technology, and digital transformation. The meetings underscored Estonia's readiness to provide its digital expertise to Vietnam, aiming to aid Vietnam's transformation into a high-income economy by 2045.
During the discussions, Tsahkna highlighted Estonia's proficiency in digitalization, which could effectively reduce bureaucracy and improve service efficiency in Vietnam. Estonia sees this as an opportunity to expand its influence in Southeast Asia while offering Vietnam a vital link to European markets.
Prime Minister Hung appealed for Estonia's support in persuading the EU to ratify an Investment Protection Agreement and addressing the European Commission's restrictions on Vietnamese seafood exports. The meeting also served as a platform for Estonia to share Europe's perspective on global security, particularly regarding Russia, as Vietnam maintains a neutral stance on the Ukraine conflict.
