Top officials from India and Japan recently convened in Mumbai for the inaugural India-Japan Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategic Dialogue, emphasizing strategic cooperation and innovation in AI. This meeting sought to enhance co-creation and policy convergence, aiming to develop solutions within industrial domains for a trustworthy AI ecosystem.
The dialogue, co-chaired by Amit A Shukla from India's Ministry of External Affairs and Hanada Takahiro from Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gathered representatives from various government and AI industry sectors. Discussions focused on international mobility of AI talent, expanded joint research, and international cooperation in AI governance policies.
This initiative is part of the broader India-Japan AI Cooperation Initiative intended to overcome future challenges in AI development. The commitment to this cooperation aims to progress the India-Japan Joint Vision for the Next Decade, with plans to continue discussions in Japan on mutually convenient dates.
