In an unprecedented crackdown on fraud, Amazon blocked hundreds of millions of fake reviews and confiscated over 15 million counterfeit items globally in 2025. These actions were highlighted in their inaugural 'Trustworthy Shopping Experience Report', underscoring the company's commitment to enhancing consumer trust.
Leveraging advanced AI and machine learning, Amazon is combating organized retail crime and maintaining product safety. The report indicates that legal measures in 2025 led to the closure of over 100 scam websites targeting the retailer.
Furthering their initiatives, Amazon's Counterfeit Crimes Unit has prosecuted more than 32,000 offenders across 14 countries. The e-commerce giant, working alongside Chinese authorities and brands, conducted over 70 raids against counterfeit producers in the previous year. Emphasizing the global nature of retail threats, Amazon is adopting predictive AI techniques and expanding operations in countries like India to strengthen intellectual property safeguards.
