BJP MP and former foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla emphasized the urgent need for a new global governance structure to manage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the use of critical minerals. Shringla, speaking at the AI Impact Summit, highlighted the inadequacies of current institutions like the United Nations and WTO in handling the challenges posed by these technologies.

He pointed out the disruptive potential of AI, particularly in terms of job displacement and its misuse on social media, which could incite social unrest. Shringla called for international cooperation to establish regulations that would enable responsible use of AI.

His remarks coincide with ongoing global debates on AI ethics and the push for balanced regulations. Atal Innovation Mission's Director Deepak Bagla highlighted India's efforts in fostering innovation through school labs and incubation centers, preparing the workforce for advanced technological engagement.
