A software engineer from Yelachenahalli received an unpleasant surprise when his eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 smartphone turned out to be a mere piece of tile. Premanand, who spent Rs 1.86 lakh on the high-tech gadget, was understandably shocked by the scam.

The incident unfolded after Premanand ordered his device from a well-known e-commerce platform on October 14, paying via credit card. Despite the anticipation, his package, delivered on October 19, contained not the sleek foldable phone he desired, but a simple square piece of white tile.

Filing a complaint with both the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal and local authorities, Premanand's case is now under investigation. Charges include cheating by personation, with police exploring potential violations of both the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.
