Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have bolstered their squad by signing Akash Madhwal as a replacement for Ayush Mhatre, who is injured and will miss the remainder of IPL 2026. Mhatre, India's U19 World Cup-winning captain, was a crucial player for CSK, contributing significantly with two fifties in six matches.
Mhatre's campaign was cut short due to a left hamstring injury sustained against Sunrisers Hyderabad. To fill the void, CSK acquired Madhwal for Rs 30 lakh. The right-arm fast bowler previously represented Mumbai Indians in 2023 and 2024 and Rajasthan Royals in 2025.
Madhwal, hailing from Uttarakhand, brings with him extensive IPL experience, having played in 17 matches and claimed 23 wickets. Notably, he marked his debut with Mumbai Indians by securing a five-wicket haul, delivering exceptional figures of 5/5 in the Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants.
