Cricket's Olympic Renaissance: LA 2028 to Feature Iconic Sport

Construction on the cricket stadium designated for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games has officially begun, marking cricket's return to the Olympic stage after 128 years, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed on Wednesday.

Located at the Fairgrounds in Pomona, Southern California, this temporary venue will feature competitions with six teams each in both men's and women's 20-over formats. The initiative stands as a crucial step towards expanding cricket's global footprint within the Olympic movement.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed immense pride, emphasizing the dream-like aspect of cricket's inclusion in the Olympics. Beyond the Olympic events, the venue is also set to host three Major League Cricket (MLC) matches from July 1 to 5 this year, further solidifying its role in promoting the sport.
