Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched a scathing critique of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) former leadership. He branded their actions as "shameful" and "cowardly," particularly criticizing their handling of Russian athletes following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Putin's remarks came during a ceremony in the Kremlin, where he called on the new IOC leadership to address the past grievances. His comments were primarily aimed at Thomas Bach’s presidency, which saw the banning of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing under their national flags.
Despite the challenges posed by these restrictions, Putin lauded the Russian Paralympic team's performance at the Milano Cortina Winter Games, highlighting their prowess and dedication despite being a smaller squad.
