India's efforts to reinstate the Formula One Grand Prix are gaining traction, with Williams driver Alex Albon expressing his eagerness for the potential event. The Indian Grand Prix, initially held from 2011 to 2013, was discontinued due to tax and bureaucratic issues.
In a strong push for its return by the 2027 season, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is actively advocating for Formula One's return to Indian soil. The proposed venue for the event remains the Buddh International Circuit, which previously hosted the race.
Albon noted that there is renewed interest in F1 across India, which boasts a fanbase of 79 million. Despite his excitement, Albon acknowledged the familiarity advantage held by drivers like Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, who raced on the circuit in earlier editions.
