The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined the Bangladesh cricket team's entire squad 10 per cent of their match fees for failing to maintain the requisite over-rate during their recent game against New Zealand.
In the second men's One Day International (ODI), held on Monday, the team led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz fell two overs short of the mandatory count after considering allowable time allocations, confirmed ICC match referee Andy Pycroft.
Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, players incur a five per cent match fee fine for each over their side fails to bowl within the allotted time. Captain Mehidy acknowledged the breach and accepted the punishment, making a formal hearing unnecessary. This ruling was supported by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Gazi Sohel, third umpire Nitin Menon, and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul.
