Gunfire Erupts at Louisiana Mall Food Court: 10 Injured
A shooting in the Mall of Louisiana's food court in Baton Rouge left ten people injured, some requiring surgery. The shooting ensued from a group altercation, leading to a massive police response. The incident follows another violent event in Louisiana earlier in the week.
At least 10 people sustained injuries when gunfire erupted inside the food court at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on Thursday. Police reported that an altercation between two groups escalated to a shooting, prompting a quick and substantial response from law enforcement.
Baton Rouge Mayor Sid Edwards addressed the unidentified gunmen, vowing that they would be caught. Police Chief TJ Morse informed that while some gunmen fled, the injured, including innocents, were taken to local hospitals. Two of the injured required surgery. Chief Morse urged witnesses to provide any video footage.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry advised the public to steer clear of the area, while a WBRZ-TV employee was among those safely held. This marks the second gun violence incident in Louisiana this week, following a tragic family shooting in Shreveport.
