The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a one-year ban on Sri Lanka's captain Dasun Shanaka from participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Shanaka was initially slated to join the PSL but opted instead to play for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a similar vein, the PCB has slapped a two-year ban on player Blessing Muzarabani, citing analogous reasons. However, Muzarabani’s agent, Rob Humphries, contends that the ban is unjust since his client had never inked a deal with any PSL franchise.

The PCB announced on Monday that a thorough review of recent contractual developments had been conducted. The findings confirmed Shanaka’s unilateral pullout on March 21 as a clear violation of player registration terms and the tripartite agreement. Shanaka notably led Sri Lanka in the recent T20 World Cup.
