Dasun Shanaka Banned from PSL for League Hopping
Sri Lankan cricketer Dasun Shanaka has been banned from the next edition of the Pakistan Super League after leaving it to join the Indian Premier League. The Pakistan Cricket Board found his withdrawal unjustified under the contractual terms. Shanaka expressed regret and hopes to rejoin PSL with renewed dedication.
In a recent development, Sri Lanka's all-rounder Dasun Shanaka faced a ban from the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) after his premature withdrawal to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Rajasthan Royals.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced this decision highlighting Shanaka's unilateral exit, which they determined did not align with the contractual agreements set by the league. His ban follows a similar penalty imposed on Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani.
Despite not yet playing for Rajasthan this season, Shanaka expressed remorse for his decision. He has clarified that there was no intent to switch leagues at the time of his PSL exit and hopes to earn back the trust of fans and return to PSL in the future.
