In a significant legal move, the court has prohibited the unauthorized use of PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss' photograph for election campaigning purposes. The order, issued by XIII Assistant Judge Dharmaprabu M, underscores the importance of privacy rights amidst the political fervor.
Petitioner Dr S Ramadoss argued that his rights were being compromised as his photograph was used to mislead voters. He sought a complete injunction against Dr Anbumani Ramadoss and affiliated PMK MLAs concerning the usage of his imagery.
While the court recognized the challenges in removing existing campaign materials, it enforced a ban on producing new materials featuring his photograph, effective immediately. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on June 4, allowing respondents time to present their counters.
