The Patiala House Court on Tuesday approved a 45-day extension for the ongoing National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation into the high-profile Delhi blast case, originally scheduled for conclusion in 90 days. This marks the second extension granted, applying specifically to the cases of accused individuals, Bilal Naseer Malla and Yasir Ahmed Dar.
According to court documents, the application for an extension was accompanied by a comprehensive prosecutor's report, highlighting the complexities faced by investigators and justifying the need for more time. The Special NIA Judge, upon reviewing the request, deemed the extension necessary to facilitate a thorough investigation.
Legal Defence Counsel Piyush Sachdeva, representing Malla and Dar, also pursued applications to improve communication between the accused and their families, as well as requests for access to open-air areas within the jail. This follows multiple arrests, including the initial detention of Aamir Rashid Mir, and underscores the prolonged nature of the investigation process. (ANI)
