India Golf Premier League Unveils Exciting Global Ambitions with Star-studded Lineup

The AM Green India Golf Premier League (IGPL) created a buzz on Thursday with the announcement of its complete team rosters in New Delhi, signaling a significant step in its journey to elevate professional golfing worldwide. The decade franchises welcomed golfers from around the world, an endeavor that highlights IGPL's commitment to the sport's evolution.

The grand announcement took place at The Oberoi, New Delhi, graced by cricket legend Yuvraj Singh and IGPL CEO Uttam Singh Mundy. Mundy emphasized the role of golf in boosting player development and tourism in India, while Singh praised the team format for adding excitement to an individualistic sport.

The event also saw Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Tourism, lauding IGPL's initiative to channel $2 billion into India's golf tourism infrastructure. The Minister described it as a transformative move for sports tourism, noting how countries like Mauritius and Vietnam have leveraged golf to attract global visitors. He expressed confidence in India's potential to be a major golf tourism destination in Asia.

Shekhawat remarked on how golf could be pivotal in achieving Prime Minister Modi’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision by building infrastructure that attracts international investment and creates jobs. The league will host 15 events, 10 in India and 5 internationally, spotlighting cities like Mauritius and South Africa. Teams, consisting of four players each, will accumulate points throughout the season, culminating in rewards for the top three teams.

Co-founder Yuvraj Singh highlighted the exciting team dynamics, noting the fast-paced game will bring more thrill. CEO Mundy also noted plans for expanding the sport through international series, with the hallmark of IGPL being the commitment to its growth. Initiatives like 'Golf on Wheels,' aimed at popularizing the sport among youth, encapsulate IGPL's vision.

The league's squads include notable names such as Shiv Kapur for RVR Delhi GC and Gaganjeet Bhullar for Vimtra Chennai GC among others, setting the stage for a thrilling season in both domestic and international arenas.
